Year 7 Science Lab

This term year 7 students were conducting an experiment to separate four different mixtures. After being given a magnet, a sieve, beakers, water and a large bowl, they had to work together to figure out which separating method was the best for each mixture. Students had a wonderful time exploring the options available and a fun and educational time was had by all.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Re: Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)

Every year, all schools across Australia are required to take part in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) on school students requiring extra support and or adjustments to enable them to participate in education on the same basis as other students.

Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:

The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disabilities. The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured.

Further information about the NCCD can be found on the NCCD Portal.

Year 9 and 10 Visual Art: Painting

Throughout term two year 9 and 10 Visual Art students have been researching what the art movements of Cubism and Impressionism look like in a contemporary context. The year 9 students looked into Cubist painters today like Belin and George Condo whilst the year 10 Impressionist students were inspired by Ben Quilty’s bold still life paintings.

The two year levels had the opportunity to either appropriate an existing painting or to choose a contemporary object and use their respective art movements to represent it in an artwork of their very own. The results are very strong and the process of painting these works was rewarding for all involved. The students were encouraged to trial, review and adapt as they went in order to produce the most well informed pieces they could. I am very proud of these two amazing groups of Art students.
